Stewart Hunting Tartan’s origins are somewhat unclear.  Though "hunting" tartans were developed later in the 19th century for their camouflaging qualities, scholars do not consider the Stewart Hunting tartan to be a genuine hunting tartan or even a true Stewart tartan. It's an asymmetric pattern, meaning it doesn't mirror itself, and it serves as a universal or "off-duty" tartan that anyone can wear, regardless of clan affiliation.

Our Hepburn Muted Tartan is a modern color adaptation of the ancient Hepburn tartan, designed to be a softer, more subdued version with a palette of deep burgundy, muted green, earthy brown, soft blue, and black.  It reflects the Heoburn clan’s historic connection to the Scottish Lowlands, a powerful border family with Scottish and Northumbrian roots, and their legacy through figures like James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell - husband of Mary, Queen of Scots.

Londonderry Tartan does not have a long historical connection to the county - unlike some other "ancient" Scottish tartans. The design features green, bright coral, and gold with black accents and symbolizes the rich cultural heritage of the region, with some believing it is a representation of the Ulster Tartan, which is based on fabric found in a bog in County Derry in 1956.

The Lindsay tartan represents Clan Lindsay, one of Scotland's oldest families, with its roots tracing back to the 11th century, though the specific tartan pattern emerges in the 19th century. The tartan's design features dark blue and burgundy colors, symbolizing the Scottish landscape, loyalty, and strength. While tartan patterns were originally tied to available dyes rather than clans, the Lindsay tartan became a distinct identifier for the clan, particularly after its popularization by the 1842 publication Vestiarium Scoticum.

The Anderson tartan's specific origin and date are unknown, but it complex, ‘fancy,’ pattern style emerged in the years leading up to the 1822 royal visit by HM Queen Victoria to Edinburgh - becoming popular for aesthetic rather than purely traditional reasons. It represents the Anderson family, associated with Clan Ross in the Highlands and having Lowland roots, and features a unique seven-color check that is often recognized by its rich blue, red, green, and yellow colors.

Its history is tied to the powerful Macleod Clan of the Scottish Ilses, particularly the Lewis branch, and while named tartans became codified in the early 19th century, the MacLeod Dress tartan is one of the most vibrant and recognized designs of the MacLeod clan

George Briard was an American designer in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He is most well known for his signature dishware and glassware - everything from cups and plates to gold plated serving dishes. The Drummond tartan's history is deeply intertwined with Clan Drummond’s long lineage, originating from a Hungarian nobleman who accompanied Edgar the Aetheling to Scotland in the 11th century.  The clan's notable contributions include fighting with Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Bannockburn, where they used caltrops to defeat the English cavalry, and their later involvement in the Jacobite uprising.

The Baird Ancient tartan honors the historically significant Scottish Clan Baird, which has roots dating back to at least the 12th century in Aberdeenshire. Though an armigerous clan with no single recognized leader in the Court of the Lord Lyon, Clan Baird is known for its historical presence, loyalty to the Scottish crown, and association with prominent figures like the inventor of television, John Logie Baird. Fraser Modern Tartan isn’t a single ancient design, but a 19th-century invention, a vibrant, modern reinterpretation of the historical clan tartans that were often destroyed or altered during the 250 years after the 1746 Jacobite uprising.  The Fraser clan itself has a rich history, originating from Norman France in the 12th century with a prominent role in Scottish independence and Jacobite uprisings, leading to a split into lowland and highland branches (Frasers of Philorth and Lovat, respectively). The modern tartan is a contemporary expression of this heritage, embracing innovation and a broader, romanticized view of Scottish culture popular in the 19th century
