Featured both in our Beatrice Cottage Collection and Equestrian Tartans Collections - MacKinnon tartan features a warm chocolate ground with vibrant windowpane details.

The Mackinnon tartan has a history tied to a prominent Highland clan with strong connections to the islands of Mull and SKyle, claiming descent from Kenneth MacAlpin, the first King of Scotland. Their clan history features a powerful ancestral link to Iona and St. Columba, as reflected in their clan arms. The clan also famously supported Robert the Bruce and later the Jacobite cause, which led to the loss of their ancestral lands by the mid-18th century.

Clan MacLeod is a Highland Scottish clan associated with the Isle of Skye. There are two main branches of the clan: the MacLeods of Harris and Dunvegan, known in Gaelic as Sìol Tormoid and the Clan MacLeod of Lewis Assynt and Raasay.
