Our Princess Mary Muted tartan has a storied history.  Originating in the early 20th century, this tartan was designed to honor Princess Mary's (later HM Queen Mary) contributions to the nation during the First World War, particularly her efforts in supporting the troops and her involvement in charitable work.

The Stewart Black Tartan is a variant of the Royal Stewart Tartan, a darker, somber interpretation associated with the Royal House of Stewart, which produced the monarchs of Scotland and England for centuries. While the Royal Stewart tartan was officially published in 1831, the concept of uniform clan tartans like this emerged during the Highland Revival in the early 19th century, initially for marketing and preservation.  The Black Stewart remains a widely recognized and popular tartan today, symbolizing the deep and noble lineage of the Stewart clan

The Stewart Dress tartan is a predominantly white version of the Royal Stewart Tartan, a design associated with the Stewart clan, who are of royal lineage, rather than a historically unique pattern. Royal Stewart Tartan became a standard for the House of Stewart in the late 19th century.

Our Equestrian Tartan Collection features equine-inspired wool tartan and bold motif prints 

Stewart Hunting Tartan’s origins are somewhat unclear.  Though "hunting" tartans were developed later in the 19th century for their camouflaging qualities, scholars do not consider the Stewart Hunting tartan to be a genuine hunting tartan or even a true Stewart tartan. It's an asymmetric pattern, meaning it doesn't mirror itself, and it serves as a universal or "off-duty" tartan that anyone can wear, regardless of clan affiliation.
